coverage edit

Beside four players with pages now in the category, Marshall Wright lists these members of the 1869 team.

  • Tom Devyr, 1869 ss
  • S. Carlton, 1869 ss
  • Courtney, 1869 c

That is seven regulars and three subs. I give red links to the major leaguers.

The Eckfords were champions 1862 and 1863 and among the best at other times during the 1860s. The team declined markedly in 1870 and used many players not yet named in these coverage reports. For now I have passed over them. --P64 (talk) 01:33, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

The 1870 team seems to include seven future major leaguers: regulars Andy Allison, Ed Duffy, Joe McDermott (baseball pitcher), James Snyder (baseball), and Josh Snyder (baseball); subs Nat Jewett and Bill Allison (baseball). Several of them played in the majors only for the 1872 Eckfords. --P64 (talk) 04:20, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
