Biography

Zaur Hasanov was born on April 26, 1979, in Baku. He began his primary education in 1986 at the Baku City School No. 98, named after National Hero Ilgar Mirzayev. After completing his secondary education, he entered the Azerbaijan State University of Economics in 1996. He obtained his bachelor's degree there and later earned a master's degree from the Georgian Public Institute and a second master's degree from San Jose State University.[1]

Activity

Zaur Hasanov is an Azerbaijani public servant with extensive experience in the telecom and logistics sectors. He served as the director of the Trans-Eurasian Super Information Highway (TASIM) project, a significant initiative aimed at connecting western Europe with China via a transnational fiber-optic backbone cable.[2] This project involved a consortium comprising the Ministry of Communications of Azerbaijan, Turkish TurkTelecom, Rosletecom of Russia, Kazakh Telecom, and China Telecom.[3]

Since 2016, Mr. Hasanov has been working at the Port of Baku as an advisor to the Director-General. He also had a brief tenure in Shusha, where he led the public relations and IT departments of Shusha State City Reserve,[4] focusing on the IT and PR aspects of the city after its liberation from 32 years of occupation.[5]

Literary achievements

Zaur Hasanov is a prolific writer with two notable books on the history of Chechnya and Iran:[6]

  1. "Man of the Mountains": This book won the First Prize at the Open Eurasian Literature Festival & Book Festival held in the UK in 2014.[7]
  1. "Secrets in the Carpet": Published by the "5th Rome" publishing house in Moscow, this book explores the history of Safavid Iran.[8]

Zaur Hasanov has authored six documentaries, including:

"The Glimpse of the First Oil" This documentary, dedicated to the oil history of Azerbaijan, received a special prize at the 6th International Audio-Visual Festival in Baku.
