XOCEAN is an ocean data company founded in 2017.[1][2][3][4] The company develops and operates a fleet of Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) for hydrographic surveys.[5][6][7][8]

Overview

XOCEAN was founded in 2017 by James Ives.[9][10][11][12] The company developed and launched its first USV in January 2018. XOCEAN is headquartered in Carlingford, Ireland. Originally operating in Europe, XOCEAN later expanded, and as of 2024, XOCEAN operates in 22 different markets including the US, Canada, UK, Norway, Australia, Taiwan, France, and Denmark.[13][14][15][16][17]

The company operates a fleet of 30 survey-class USVs and provides seabed data services to Offshore Wind developers and Government Agencies.[18][19][20][21]

In December 2019, XOCEAN acquired 4D Ocean, a specialist autonomous hydrographic survey company. In May 2022, XOCEAN acquired Geomara, a hydrographic survey company.[22][23][24][25]

In June 2024, the company secured €30 million in its Series B funding led by Venturewave Capital.[26]
