The estuary of the Proserpine River, where it enters the Coral Sea, forms the southern boundary.[4]

In the 2016 census, Wilson Beach had a population of 59 people.[5]
In the 2021 census, Wilson Beach had a population of 68 people.[3]

There are no schools in Wilson Beach. The nearest government primary and secondary schools are Proserpine State School and Proserpine State High School, both in Proserpine to the north-west.[6]
