Avoid lint errors and follow the Wikipedia manual of style

I edited Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/Vanderbilt University/Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples (fall 2023), fixing a links in links lint error. If you go to page history and look at the version before my edit, you can see that the display is bollixed for Week 8, but it's fixed in the latest version.

I encourage you or someone to copy the change back to the dashboard. I do not know how to do that.

Also please be aware that this course page violates several Wikipedia style standards:

• Wikipedia style is to use bold, not ALL CAPS, for emphasis ("SUNDAY NIGHT")
• Wikipedia style is to use straight (') not curly (’) apostrophes.
• Wikipedia style is to use "straight quotes" not “curly quotes”. (“A perfect Wikipedia article…”)
• Wikipedia style is to use logical quotes, meaning period goes inside the quote if there was a period in the original, otherwise the period goes outside the quote. You violate this, as well as the straight quote rule, in “Ten Simple Rules for Editing Wikipedia.”
• Wikipedia style is to use unspaced em dash (—) or spaced en dash ( – ), not a hyphen ( - ), as a separator: (In class - Introduction to the Wikipedia assignment)

It might be a good idea for the course page to be compliant with the manual of style!

Update: I have fixed the Week 8 bollixed bug three times now. Will someone please copy my fix back to the dashboard, so it stays fixed? And will someone please correct the numerous style errors as noted above, and fix them in the dashboard, so they stay fixed? —Anomalocaris (talk) 05:24, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

@Anomalocaris:, Your attention to this problematic bug in displaying {{main}} is appreciated. As you can see, this page is regularly updated by the WikiEdu dashboard from its original and that makes editing here a sisyphean task. I've tried a solution on my side of the dashboard and I hope it resolves this bug.

Regarding the Manual of Style, we are advised by its heading that This Manual of Style (MoS or MOS) is the style manual for all English Wikipedia articles (though provisions related to accessibility apply across the entire project, not just to articles). This page is not an article and I've double checked that the above concerns do not appear on the accessibility page. Maintaining this page involves bridging between two editing systems and its intended audience is exactly 14 students, plus anyone curious about the course's role. I've altered Sunday Night as requested, but will not be revising punctuation, or overriding formatting of citations at this time. (If the editor were MediaWiki-accessible, I'd thank you for boldly making the revisions you propose.)--Carwil (talk) 03:14, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
