WikiProject Crime

I noticed there was a proposal for a WikiProject related to crime and I was wondering, taking into account its interest, if members of the various crime related projects might be interested in forming a Portal:Crime in order to organize and coordinate overlapping crime and criminology related projects ? The official project has been formed at WP:CRIME. MadMax 01:02, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Ebony Simpson and articles about victims or murders rather than the murder

Ebony Simpson has been nominated for deletion. In the AfD discussion the suggestion has been made that articles should not be about the victim or the perpetrator, as biographies they would generally not meet WP:Bio. The alternate suggestion is that the articles should be about the crime - eg The Graeme Thorne kidnapping or The Murchison Murders. The articles about Joe Cinque and his murderer are a good example of multiple articles being resolved by that approach. Any reaction?--Golden Wattle talk 00:55, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Project scope

Sorry to be a biographies of living person pedant, but someone being listed as being part of wikiproject Australian crime shouldn't be taken as implying that the person is a criminal, right? Andjam 03:20, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Not at all. The Beaumont children disappearance is an example of what you refer to. -- Longhair\talk 11:39, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Naming conventions concerning ethnic organized crime articles

A recent discussion regarding to delete/rename Category:Gangs by ethnicity and its related ethnic and historically related street gang categorires which I assume will effect naming conventions of general crime related categories to eliminate ethnicity.

Similarly, a related discussion on changing Jewish-American organized crime to a "less offensive and accusatory" title will also effect article naming conventions for similar organized crime related articles such as Talk:African-American organized crime and Talk:Greek-American organized crime and I assume those related to Australian articles as well.

Also, there has been some discussion regarding the possibly a "collaberation of the week" project between WP:CRIME, WP:BRITCRIME and the various crime related WikiProjects. I was wondering if this would be of interest to WikiProject Australian crime ? MadMax 23:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia Crime newsletter

Several members have been discussing an idea for a Wikipedia crime related newsletter written as a collaberation of the various crime related WikiProjects and I was wondering weither this might interest WikiProject Australian crime ? MadMax 06:08, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Cats

Have discovered old categories that I had tagged earlier this year with NA and no crime project included - have tried to do a partial cleanup with the recently cleaned up class=cat and the crime=yes - please if anyone hasnt turned the light out yet and closed the door - if you do find categories with class=NA it would be appreciated if you did the class=cat and added the crime - there are some that live in the law/crime mix - but it helps cleaning up things - if you see a red discussion tag on the top of a crime article - please tag it. thanks cheers, yours in crime SatuSuro 04:51, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Volunteering to Help Make the section better

Hi Guys,

I'd like to add my name to participate in improving the Aussie crimes section. I am a true crime author based in Australia. I have 4 books currently published and 2 more on their way.

If I am correct, I am not allowed to just add my name on the front page as it's considered spamming? I'm still new to this whole Wiki scene.

Cheers

Linkspamming refers to adding external links to existing articles, whereas signing up here to help out with the project on crime is encouraged...Welcome aboard... -- Longhair\talk 11:34, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

I would like to delete Australian High Tech Crime Centre because there is a more detailed version under Australian Hi-Tech Crime Centre. I am a member of WP:Australia but not WP:Australian crime. How do I do this? Kathleen.wright5 00:23, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
