Fair use rationale for screenshots of copyrighted softwareEdit

I used the following fair use rationale in Image:Wing screenshot.jpg:

Fair use in ARTICLE NAMEEdit

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. It illustrates an educational article about the software that produced the image, for critical commentary of that software.
  2. The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of the article topic.
  3. The use of the screenshot will not affect the value of the original work or limit the copyright holder's rights or ability to distribute the program depicted.
  4. It is a low resolution image.
  5. It is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value.

I'm by no means an expert at writing fair use rationales... Any and all feedback is appreciated — Ksero 12:36, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Non-low-resolution imagesEdit

This article could use some examples of where low resolution images aren't used. SharkD (talk) 01:27, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Album art resolutionEdit

How does one determine if an image is low-resolution? If the image is from a publisher, is the only requirement resizing the image? And if the image is self-made, like a scan, what would qualify it then? Louis Waweru  Talk  06:39, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
