If you're not in the US: Do whatever you want because the rest of the world isn't that important anyway

As a non-US Internet user is has seemed rather frustrating and a little bit insulting to be repeatedly told to contact my senator or representative about SOPA/PIPA over the last few weeks, and I'm sure I'm not the only one to feel this way. Perhaps there is a way to generalise the statement; recognising that the US isn't the only place in the English-speaking world and suggesting an alternative course of action for non-US citizens? The US doesn't have a monopoly on bad censorship or copyright+ laws, so there should be enough to protest about, be it ACTA, the UK's DEA, general censorship powers in Australia, the Republic of Ireland's new(ish) blasphemy law or the causes of the New Zealand Internet Blackout of 2009 (some of which are still in law, or being re-introduced). There's plenty for a non-US citizen to complain to their elected representatives (if they have them) about. --Duke (talk) 13:49, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Wow thank you for these links, i didn't know most of these exist! I've put them in the article now as i really dislike the status quo, where all non-US visitors are left without any clues why this blackout should concern them. I'm sorry i didn't have much time for editing and the quality of my edit might reflect that. Sorry =/ Alex 46.14.85.175 (talk) 21:08, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm editing this since doesn't reflect anything positive about the situation, and is not true at all Xaviervia (talk) 21:15, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Someone already removed it, great =) Xaviervia (talk) 21:18, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
first, why does that need to be "positive"? Second, what exactly "is not true at all"?
FYI, the official press release does mention people living outside the US, the article does now too. Alex 46.14.85.175 (talk) 22:10, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
