- Attention disputants:
The Mediation Committee will assign a mediator to this dispute within two weeks, and the mediation proceedings will then take place on this page. Until the mediation begins, I recommend that the disputants do not edit any articles involved in this dispute. I have archived the previous discussions that were on this page, because mediation is guided by the mediator so debate among the disputants is simply re-hashing previous article-talk page threads, and is thus suboptimal.
Thank you for your patience and co-operation. For the Mediation Committee, AGK [•] 16:23, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- User:ItsZippy, a non-member but current nominee to join the Mediation Committee, has offered to mediate this case. In line with the committee's practices and conventions, we require that the parties to a case consent to any non-member mediating their dispute. Please read #Parties' agreement to ItsZippy's offer then indicate whether you agree or disagree, within seven days. If all the parties consent to ItsZippy being their mediator, then mediation proceedings may begin immediately. AGK [•] 23:00, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Question for disputants
editIt's possible this mediation will be aborted [1]. In light of that do we still need a discussion or is there consensus now to use the term 'killed'? Obviously if there isn't consensus then we do still need a discussion and I'm not seeking to persuade anyone here, just asking the question.--Flexdream (talk) 17:21, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
- Actually you don't need consensus for use of the word "killed". Per WP:BRD the article should say "killed" as it was the wording used before Asarlai's bold undiscussed and highly contentious change which has been disputed ever since with endless reverts. Per WP:BRD once it is reverted or disputed, it must be discussed to see if a consensus can be agreed for its addition. From the talk it is obvious that no consensus for the change will be found. Despite the claims of the "summarily executed" camp, the stable version of the article is actually "killed" which goes all the way back to August 2008! Almost four years of stability with "killed". Not even a month with "summarily executed". Mabuska (talk) 09:56, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- Mabuska, with the other editors all now banned from Troubles related topics and discussions I think this mediation is now moot and I presume it will be closed. Hopefully in future any discussions can take place on the article talk page. I note your comments and I don't think there is consensus or even demand to change 'killing' to either 'murdered' or 'summarily executed'. What a pity that my edit [[2]] was reverted within 15 minutes, and that the discussion I then started on the talk page could not have been more collegial.[[3]]. --Flexdream (talk) 16:07, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
