Couple of things

The article says that editors who do climb the Reichstag dressed as Spiderman will be blocked until Heat death of the universe. What happens if Heat Death never occurs? What about the Big Crunch and Big Rip theories. Finally is climbing the Houses of Parliament dressed as Superman permitted? Not that I plan on doing it as that would be quite undignified but just out of curiosity you understand. --Jupiter Optimus Maximus (talk) 21:52, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh, if the Heat death of the universe never occurs you will never be unblocked. Never, I say, NEVER! Mwa ha ha ha ha ha!! Anaxial (talk) 18:12, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't know - he might get unblocked on a cold day in hell.

Possible renaming

As a German, I find it disgusting that the Reichstag is being used in this manner. I think a new name is needed to avoid insulting. Kingjeff (talk) 17:43, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

On past discussions and experience I sincerely doubt anyone will give a fuck to be honest. MickMacNee (talk) 18:30, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I love the language you are using. Kingjeff (talk) 18:39, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you are taking offense at. Is this article anti-German? I'm sure if you try to change anything you will be asked to go buy a sense of humor.  Randall Bart   Talk  19:56, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
The title is anti-German. Kingjeff (talk) 20:50, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
How is it anti-German? I think you're missing the point of the article. Or you're have a go at us and we're falling for it. joshschr (Talk | contribs) 20:54, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
The article doesn't need any reading. "No climbing the Reichstag ..." is refering to World War 2. Kingjeff (talk) 21:16, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Ummm, did Spider-Man climb the Reichstag Building in WW II? The building is used for government now, isn't it? I think the box at the top pretty well covers it all. I don't want to sound incivil, but take the long underwear off and do not don the mask. joshschr (Talk | contribs) 21:20, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

No , but the Russians did. Kingjeff (talk) 22:05, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I am not really good at communicating with the humor impaired, but I will give this a go. At the end of WWII, some Russians climbed the Reichstag and raised a Soviet flag. The act was symbolic, since the German parliament hadn't met there since 1933, but the picture is iconic.
Now Kingjeff, let me get to the amazing part: None of those Russians was dressed as Spider-Man.[citation needed] Not a single one.[citation needed] While "climbing the Reichstag" might refer to WWII, "climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spider-Man" refers to events since German reunification in 1990. Please read the article, or ask someone with a sense of humor to read it and explain it to you.  Randall Bart   Talk  16:55, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
" None of those Russians was dressed as Spider-Man"!!!??? Dfrg_msc 06:54, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't think so. They don't tell you that kind of stuff in History class, although they should! It's kind of moot since Kingjeff has left the building. joshschr (Talk | contribs) 12:17, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Heh.

So much for Wikipedia being a serious project... :P I just lost teh game (talk) 00:02, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

The project is serious. Some of the editors are not. joshschr (Talk | contribs) 17:58, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
When doing serious work, it becomes more important to keep your sense of humor, not less. Friday (talk) 18:07, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
So? This is an essay, not a policy or guideline. As an essay it need not be a serious rule. You can't be permabanned for "violating" this WP:REICHSTAG essay. mike4ty4 (talk) 03:54, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Did anyone spot the news story about one of the Fathers 4 Justice people mounting a motorway gantry in the UK dressed as Batman (also [1])? A quote from the BBC piece reads: "Fathers 4 Justice protesters have staged a series of high-profile stunts across the UK, normally involving clambering on to a landmark dressed as superheroes such as Batman, Spiderman or Superman." Maybe they've been getting ideas off us. Orderinchaos 18:57, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Oops, didn't notice it had already been added down the bottom. Orderinchaos 19:05, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
That's okay. It wouldn't be like you to introduce only order.Gen. Confusion (talk) 17:53, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Bundestag

Guys, great page, but a minor but annoying error diminishes it impact somewhat for me. I don't know why anyone didn't spot this earlier, but the building with the glass dome referred to with the image and graphic is actually called the "Bundestag". I propose the article be moved to No climbing the Bundestag dressed as Spider-Man and the text changed accordingly. Martintg (talk) 18:59, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

If the Reichstag no longer exists then it is pointless banning people from climbing it. Wouldn't it be better to ban editors from planting flags on the North Pole dressed as frogmen? A B McDonald (talk) 18:10, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

The bundestag is the political institution. The Bundestag assembles in the Rechstag buidilding, as it says in the article about the Bundestag: "Since 1999, the German parliament has again assembled in Berlin in its original Reichstag building, which dates from the 1890s and underwent a significant renovation under the lead of British architect Sir Norman Foster." -Duribald (talk) 19:34, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

  • The page originated with a humorous comment from someone involved in a dispute. If anyone tries to change it then I will sue them in a court of law in Trenton, New Jersey. Or something. Guy (Help!) 17:51, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
    • The thought of being forced to go to Trenton NJ should be sufficient deterrent, with or without legal action. Last time I drove through Trenton I got caught in a rainstorm; when it was done I had to get out and clean off the windshield so I could see the road.   --Ludwigs2 19:32, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
  • I will see Guy's Court of Trenton, and raise you an Intarwebs Lawyer from Nigeria who just sent me a kind email. I'm sure that when we're done with our financial transaction we will have plenty of money to oversee all climbing, and defense of, the aforementioned Bundestag Reichstag. !!!!11111111. eleventy. - Kathryn NicDhàna 23:17, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Flagged Revisions

It seems that with the controversy and widespread anger over WP:FLAGREV, we should be especially watchful of the Reichstag for superheroes scaling the building. Firestorm (talk) 22:08, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Auto-archive the talk page?

Can we set up an auto-archiving bot here please? Or someone archive the incomplete discussions? This page is getting way too long... --Pstanton (talk) 07:38, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
