Wikipedia talk:New contributors' help page/Archive

I'm a new user. I've tried putting {{{xxx}}} around what I want to appear as a hanging indent, but only see the {{{ as in the edited page instead of a hanging indent. (Also, I have no idea how to tell when this post gets answered!) Thank you.
