Huh?
editThe title of this essay is meaningless to everyone but the author. The purpose of the essay probably is, too. It appears to be someone's attempt to show off how much they know about diminutives and nicknames in misc. languages. This doesn't seem to serve an encyclopedic purpose. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō)ˀ Contribs. 15:09, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- "Huh?" is well-put. The essay is mildly interesting, but it remains an essay, and doesn't seem too useful. It says, "The purpose of this essay is to describe the typical types of name variations, so that articles can be properly named, with specific name redirections added, if commonly needed." However, I'd be surprised if the page as it is would be of much help to Wikipedians discussing how to apprpriately name an article. When would we discuss Italian diminutives? Might be useful for high school students doing research in general, but would they ever look here? And if so, why? (I do see that there's a link at the bottom of Wikipedia:Article titles. I wonder if that's how I got here originally. Or maybe I stumbled in here from the Random article function.)
- In any case, the title is clearly unhelpful, as it appears to be totally unheard of outside of this essay. I tried a Google search for the string "name mush", and turned up about 12,000 results, of which the first 100 I paged through had no non-Wikipedia usages returned. (Apparently there is a name, Mush, which some folks might name their kids, but there's of no use to us here). The first three pages from a Yahoo search showed a similar Web-wide disdain for the term.
- So it probably needs renaming (to something) if not deleted altogether. But have you contacted User:Wikid77, who is apparently currently active? Maybe invite him to weigh in here. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 16:28, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
