Accessible location? edit

I am obviously not there right now (grin). I wish I could be there, but my constant case of Adult Onset Still's Disease has been really active, leaving me mostly home-bound.

If I can make it next year, though, is the location accessible by transport chair? I'm too weak to use a regular wheelchair, and I get a fever, increase in pain, &c. from activity (& emotional stress, because it is SUCH a horrid illness), so I use the lighter transport chair. I might have a scooter or power chair by then, if I can make myself decide which one to apply for.

I love the Japanese Garden, and I had the good fortune to take the History of the Tea Ceremony class in college, with something like a 3-hour lab in that little fenced-off area and the tea room building in the middle! We even helped take care of the miss garden.

However, even if I could get back to the level of capability that I had a couple of years ago (I've had Still's since ~2000, but I had become more capable for a while after much effort), I would need to know in advance about the accessibility of the site, so a simple infobox about the location, including accessibility, would be great.

Oh. I, uh, only skimmed the very top of the article once I saw it was being held now. You might have that info in there already.

It's been nice Wiknic-ing with you remotely. Thanks especially to those who read this chatty post all the way through! Take good care of yourselves first, so that you don't burn out! Geekdiva (talk) 20:44, 16 July 2016 (UTC) Geekdiva (talk) 20:44, 16 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi Geekdiva, thanks for your message. The location would probably be difficult to access by transport chair. The location is on a grass field that's next to a path that would probably difficult for someone in any kind of transport chair or wheelchair to use. That said, we have been considering alternative sites mainly in case of rain or excessive heat. (We had a very hot day for Wiknic in 2015.) This issue can certainly be taken into consideration for future Wiknics. Do you have any locations that you can suggest that are both outdoors and accessible by transport chair? It would be nice if you could join us. Thanks again for your message, --Pine 20:11, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Regrets edit

Sorry I was a no show this year. My weekend got eaten up identifying four numbers (12527511315, 12527511334, 12527511347, and 12527511349). Now I have my work cut out for me tracking them down. Still will try to show up at the next thing. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 20:41, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Great activity edit

Hello, I want to applaud this idea. I am the president of Wikimedia Fan Club, University of Ilorin and I'll love to replicate this idea at our club. Can you tell me what the agenda, activity and outcome were?

Thank you Danidamiobi (talk) 15:00, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
