Well, four editors is a little short of what I'd hoped, but it still might be worth giving a shot. So...

Where? edit

To answer this, we sort of need to know people's whereabouts and mobility. I'm in the university area, and I don't own a car, so I'd prefer something near where I live or near major transit lines like the LRT. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 01:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm up for anything on or near the University -- as long we can do this nearly any day except on a Sunday, I bus from St. Albert and to call service poor on Sundays would be a kindness to it. I know it's not as fancy as other places but I'm partial to the RATT. RPM (talk) 05:22, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Grant MacEwan College would be a good site for the meeting!--Brown Shoes22 (talk) 06:09, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
My !vote would be for RATT, or Sugarbowl... (sorry I'm behind the pace of discussion, forgot to watchlist this page). Pete.Hurd (talk) 03:29, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
So I think there's something approximating consensus for somewhere in the University area. Of course, I'm biased, since I live and work in the University area. Both RATT and Sugarbowl are excellent choices though. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 19:15, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

When? edit

I'm flexible. I work during the days on weekdays. I should be around town between now and the middle of August. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 01:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I usually work weekdays too, and some weekends. Evenings are sometimes safe for me, but moreso after April 30. I'd suggest something in May or later. The only days I can rule out for sure in the next few months are May 23-24 -- in Vancouver for a concert. RPM (talk) 05:29, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
So from what I gather we should do this on a non-Sunday in May. Agreed? Sarcasticidealist (talk) 19:15, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why? edit

As the guy who proposed this, you'd think I'd have a better handle on this than I do. I've heard from others that just the in-person discussion about Wikipedia can help change one's perspective on the project, so that might be reason enough. Or it might be worthwhile to discuss Wikipedia's coverage of Edmonton-based topics (although most of you seem to edit primarily on more "global" topics) and/or ideas as to how to recruit more Edmonton-area editors. Or there might be another purpose I haven't even thought of. Thoughts? Sarcasticidealist (talk) 01:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
