February 4th

- Group assignments.
- Meet in groups to begin working on Wikipedia assignment: Discuss possible topics, begin collecting references.
- Practice making minor edits (e.g., correcting grammatical errors) to existing articles.


February 14th

Due at beginning of class:

- Submit brief (< 1 page) proposal for a new article (one per group):

Explain the main topic of your article and list of sub-topics that you plan to include. Briefly describe why you think it would be useful to have an article on this topic in Wikipedia and who might be interested in the information that you plan to include.


February 19th

- Proposals returned with feedback

After class:

- Begin drafting article, starting with a 3-4 paragraph summary that will serve as the lead section for the full length article. Use sandbox in the beginning, but don't wait too long to move the article to the main space so that feedback can be provided. As you continue to build the article, respond to feedback from other Wikipedia users.


March 4th

April 11th
