The assignment has three components (or deliverables):

1) Rough Draft (10 %) Turned in to Prof. Hollis-Brusky in class on Mar. 26th and reviewed by/ discussed with CUC Librarians in group meetings at the library the week of Mar. 25-Apr 1

2) Wikipedia Entry (15 %) Uploaded to Wikipedia.org and “live” no later than Mon, Apr 22 at noon. One person will be chosen as the Content Coordinator (for extra credit toward his/her participation grade). This person will be responsible for collecting all drafts from members’ Wikipedia Sandboxes and uploading them as one entry.

3) Oral Report (10 %) Groups will report on their findings and present their Wikipedia entries to the class during class periods on Apr 30, May 2 and May 7. Groups should be prepared to present for 20 minutes and also be prepared to guide discussion and/or field questions from classmates on their assigned topics.

In addition, there will be two librarian course visits to support your Wikipedia assignment:

  • Introduction to how Wikipedia will be used in the course
  • Handout: Welcome to Wikipedia (available in print or online from the Wikimedia Foundation)
Library workshop Feb 21 during class time in the Library's Keck Learning Room

Preparation for Workshop:

  • Complete the online student orientation. During this training, you will create an account, make edits in a sandbox, and learn the basic rules of Wikipedia.
  • Create a user page, and sign up on the list of students on the course page using the "enroll' button in the upper-right.
