*What counts as substantial contributions? Because one can contribute to a Wikipedia article in various ways, each way adding a different value and requiring a different amount of effort, it is hard to come up with a single quantity that would indicate what qualifies as substantial contributions. So instead I am going to give an illustration—the following combination of contributions made by a single student would be considered substantial for the purpose of this assignment.

  1. Added one table and one chart of economic indicators relevant to two different sections in the article.
  2. Found citations for three pieces of information in the article that previously had no sources indicated.
  3. Added a new section (of about 10 lines) that explained the both sides of a debate related to a particular economic policy.
  4. Inserted [citation needed] tag into two statements added by others.
  5. Verified three citations recently provided by others and removed one of them because it did not in reality contain the information that was claimed.
  6. Rewrote the lead section to reflect recent updates to the article.
  7. Offered creative suggestions to a fellow editor who suggested that the article be reorganized. Also provided feedback on suggestions made by others.

You may do more of some things and less of others, but aim to do make contributions that are roughly equal to the bundle above in value added and the time required. If you have doubt whether your contributions qualify as substantial, consult me.
