Grading

edit

Wikipedia contributions will be graded as follows:

  • 20%: Participation in discussion about Good Faith Collaboration, evidence of understanding the text & Wikipedia's history, culture, & guidelines
  • 10%: Introductory Wikipedia edits: the "fix a broken link" assignment & categorizing a piece of media in Wikimedia Commons
  • 10%: Collaboration with classmates & other Wikipedia editors, appropriate use of Talk pages & other fora
  • 10%: Demonstrated research & use of sources
  • 50%: Quality of main Wikipedia contributions, evaluated in light of final reflective essay

The "quality of main Wikipedia contributions" will be judged primarily on edits made to the articles which the class has chosen to work on. While numeric guidelines are tough to create, you should have a significant quantity of edits on the articles we're working on. Edits should be significant both in number and in size; spelling corrections that change 1 or 2 characters each are a valuable contribution, but not sufficient on their own. Something in the order of 20 edits and 15,000 total characters changed would probably be an effective contribution.
