Introduction to Digital Literacies teaches students ways of reading, analyzing, researching, and composing in emerging media. This course introduces concepts and practices of rhetorical communication, focusing on how they power our use of new media. Through individual and group projects, students will understand and enact the roles of user, critic, and designer in digital interactions, and reflect on what this means for themselves and our society. To offer a framework for understanding these processes, we will study the cultural changes that led into and are emerging from digital media.
