From 4-7 March the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) will have their annual meeting in San Antonio.

There is a Wikipedia workshop during the meeting and personal Wikipedia tours for those who have time outside the workshop. From the program,

We will provide an overview of the mission, structure and function of Wikipedia. We will describe the Wikipedia Education Program and Wikipedia’s Outreach Program. We will demonstrate a curriculum suitable for medical students or residents and describe our experience using this curriculum. Participants in this session should bring a laptop, smartphone or tablet with internet connectivity.

Learning objectives include increased familiarity with the audience using Wikipedia and the extent to which gynecology and obstetrics students can contribute to Wikipedia during their studies as a coursework exercise and experience in publishing content which will be read by a significantly large layman audience seeking health information.

This workshop is offered by Celeste Royce, MD, Co-Director, Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident Ambulatory Practice at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and instructor at Harvard Medical School and Lane Rasberry, Wikipedian at Consumer Reports.
