Wikipedia talk:Copied text

I created this redir because I was involved in a RM which had a messy history, with merges and splits and text copied between articles, and the agreed solution involved still more moving of text from one article to the other. It is of course essential if we are to maintain our integrity as free content under the Creative Commons and GFDL licenses that we preserve the text history, so I began looking for what exactly the procedures were, and was unhappy with what I found.

I'm guessing that the procedures and practices are there in theory, but I couldn't easily find them.

So we need at least better navigation... shortcuts, perhaps even a new help page. The most helpful thing I found was Wikipedia:Template messages/Splitting#For use on talk page, so I created this redir to it as a start, and intended to use it in the RM and/or post RM discussion and others as they come up, to increase awareness of what's available. But other priorities intervened, and I have yet to actually use it.
