University userboxes as recruitment tool

How about searching anyone that has an infobox that designates their affiliation with the university? I just tried this and got a hit! :) I was pretty excited. so in the search bar I typed category:wikipedians by alma mater:Michigan State University

it pulls up all of the usernames with that info box. Many of them write on their user page that they are current students, so I just pasted a short message about the program and for them to contact me on my talk page. There were a few that I couldn't tell if they were graduates/recent graduates or long time graduates and I posted a message there anyways.

It could never hurt, but what I have found is that the James Madison University Users are mostly inactive on Wikipedia or Alumni, but again it would never hurt. I think the Geonotices are a little more effective in finding active users in a region though, they work pretty well for meetups, Sadads (talk) 15:20, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
