Objectives

• Show and experience the functionalities of Wikipedia and Wikidata with emphasis on content features and human interaction.
• Master the basic principles of working with Wikipedia and Wikidata. Discuss the value of Wikipedia and Wikidata for PD Value and vice versa.

Program

• 09:30 - 10:00 Reception participants, coffee
• 10:00 Show basic functionalities of Wikipedia from a reader perspective
• 11:00 Work on an individual basis on a subject in order to experience content creation and get a notion of human interaction on Wikipedia
• 12:30 lunch
• 13:30 Introduction Wikidata, with emphasis on queries and search functionality (slides)
• 14:00 Andra Waagmeester: Wikipedian with editing experience on biomedics; Gene Wiki; WikiCite and Scholia
• 14:30 Workshop Wikidata, Commons, Wikipedia
• 15:30 - 16:00 Discussion: Are there areas where PD-value can contribute to Wikipedia or Wikidata?
