Upcoming Dates

edit
  • Introductory Meeting (Wednesday, August 24 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the 18th Avenue Library Room 350A): An introductory session for new students joining us from Sunday's Involvement Fair (or just joining us in general!). We'll do some informal introductions, talk about all the fun things Wikipedia Connection does, and introduce everyone to editing! Please bring a laptop if you can; pizza and drink will be provided. This is a great chance to learn more about a source you (probably) use and ask any questions you might have about the project.
  • Weekly Workshop (Wednesday, August 31 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the 18th Avenue Library Room 350A): The first of our Weekly Workshops this semester! Join us to discuss Wikipedia, learn how to edit, and contribute together. Please bring a laptop if you can; food and drink will be provided.
  • Wiki Loves Monuments in Ohio (Entire month of September): Wiki Loves Monuments is an international photo competition focusing on capturing cultural heritage monuments. Wikipedia Connection members are invited to contribute to the competition by uploading their photos of monuments around Columbus in September. Prizes will be available. Visit the event page for more details, and stay tuned for more!

Latest Club Updates

edit
  • Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth at the Involvement Fair this Sunday! We're excited to see so many students interested in Wikipedia.
  • From now on, each newsletter will have a "Tidbit of the Day" that features a fun fact or tip regarding Wikimedia.

Member Showcase

edit
  • Last week, IFLA's World Library and Information Congress happened to be in Columbus this year! Several Wikimedia Foundation staff attended on behalf of the The Wikipedia Library. Wikipedia Connection members Kevin and Maria had the chance to hang out at Wikimedia's booth and talk about Wikipedia with librarians from all over the world - including introducing Wikipedia Connection to many of them!
