UCLA's Chicanx and Central American Studies' Chicana Art and Artists course provides a historical and contemporary introduction of Chicana/x Latina/x visual art production with an emphasis on representation, censorship, artistic process, arts activism, gender and sexuality, feminism and spirituality. The objective of this course is for students to gain an introductory overview of the development of contemporary Chicana/x Latina/x visual arts, and how it reflects the evolution and expansion of Chicana/x Latina/x identity. Students will use Wikipedia to research Chicana/x Latina/x visual artists, and write new biographical articles.
