WGSS 414 Explores the ways different systems of oppression and discrimination impact women’s lives. Examines sexism, classism, racism, and anti-Jewish oppression, as well as discrimination against queer women, older women, and those who differ in ability and appearance.

Canvas Discussion

o   Post a 3-5 minute video about your Wikipedia edits, and your experience of editing on Wikipedia. What did you choose to edit and why? How does your work make a difference to the information on Wikipedia, and to Wikipedia’s representation of issues of oppression and power? How did your contribution  assist in redressing the imbalance of Wikipedia editors? Who will benefit from the information you added (even if it was deleted, and exists only in the history and talk records – who will benefit from knowing that you did this work?) Has the way you look at Wikipedia changed? What will you contribute to Wikipedia in future? What will you do if you notice that something on Wikipedia is wrong?

  • Read Editing Wikipedia page 15 to review a final check-list before completing your assignment.
  • Don't forget that you can ask for help from your Wikipedia Expert at any time!
