This is a general education course, fulfilling both quantitative reasoning and social justice requirements. We'll cover voting theory and gerrymandering, fair apportionment, use of statistics in policy and communication, and algorithmic bias, all from a social justice perspective. The foremost learning objective for this course is for students to become adept at identifying good uses of math in modern society vs. uses that entrench system racism, sexism, and caste.
