Given are the years of the first and last official maps the routes appear on. These are not always the exact years the routes were created or eliminated.

Routes 1-6 and 12-37 were assigned by 1927. It appears that other state roads received numbers (into the 380s?) in about 1929, but only a few of them appear on maps until 1939. A year before 1939 means that the road was state maintained beginning on that year's map (for now I've only gone back to 1928).

The 1939 map may have some routes that were actually created several years later; 683 appears to be the highest number actually existing in 1939. Those that are not on the 1940 map are listed with an asterisk.
