Wikipedia:WikiProject South Africa/Bush Telegraph/Current issue

Issue 2 (started 29 May 2006)
edit

The South African Bush Telegraph is in need of a cool logo. If anyone can design one for us that would be great!

Subjective edits at HF Verwoerd

edit

A new contributor has made some very subjective edits at Hendrik Frensch Verwoerd; some more editors' input would be welcomed to try and get the article into good shape.

Appeal for photographs

edit

Hello, everyone. I have been going through South African geographic articles lately and am saddened by the lack of photographs to go along with them. Surely some of us must travel around with a camera! Currently the great majority of the photographs of Joburg were uploaded by me, and I don't even live there! So c'mon everyone, snap away! Brewing edit war

edit

There's currently two editors from opposite ends of the spectrum fighting on History of South Africa in the apartheid era; more eyeballs would be appreciated to try and find a NPOV middle-ground. What might interest some of us is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Apartheid (disambiguation).

Wiki Talk

edit

For those who are up on the highveld, Jerome West (Jcw69) is given an introduction talk on wikis at the next Adobe User Group meeting which is going to be held on Tuesday 13 June 2006 at Comztek in Midrand, Gauteng (6:00 for 6:30pm). After Jerome’s slot Kevin Mansfield will be speaking on Copyright issues in South Africa from a designer/developer point of view. Feel free to come and anyone wishing to say something at the meeting about wikipedia just contact Jerome.

Cape Town on FAC

edit

After a lot of editing over many years (coming on five now!), I listed Cape Town as a featured article candidate last night after a thorough copyedit. Take a look and vote at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Cape Town/archive1. Thanks! Páll (Die pienk olifant) 06:12, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SA History?

edit

Anybody interested in South African history? I'm thinking about starting a WikiProject dedicated to expanding and improving the current coverage of the history of South Africa. If you think you would be interested then leave me a note; if there's clear interest then I'll start one off.

Trade unions in South Africa

edit

I just started Trade unions in South Africa. It could use a good look-over by someone who is better versed in South Africa (and maybe doesn't live 16,000km away. :) --Bookandcoffee 05:37, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

South African Alternatives Project

edit

I've started a project to document Alternative people, places, landmarks, events and ideologies in South Africa. This is to avoid the less known voices from being batted out of Wikipedia because of assumptions that people make about the significance or importance of history etc. If you would like to be a part of the project, go the page and add your name to the members section of South African Alternatives Project page. Also would love help in coming up with a template etc. Ethnopunk 11:34, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Herero and Namaqua Genocide

edit

There's a bit of an edit war going on right now at Herero and Namaqua Wars (Genocide/Uprising - the name is changing often too!), mostly between the majority trying to contribute to a balanced article, and a person who wants to wipe out any mention of German atrocities. The edit war is also spilling over into articles such as Lothar von Trotha. Any help in keeping an eye on these pages, reverting the vandalism, and helping get the articles more balanced would be appreciated. Take a look at the Talk:Herero and Namaqua Wars page for some context. Greenman 11:35, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

South Africa: Places to Visit

edit

I am wanting to create a tourist guide to our beautiful country, with the added benefit of local knowledge! If you have any "local" tourist attractions which you feel should be mentioned, please write a description/article, and if possible submit photo's!

Hey by the way, there's several pages about SA and many places in SA on Wikitravel South Africa http://www.wikitravel.org/en/South_Africa, perhaps just a link to that page would do the trick? Bennelliott 16:46, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

John Perlman

edit

I've created a new page about John Perlman with breaking news about his resignation from the SABC. Zaian 15:46, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
