Wikipedia:WikiProject Rugby league/Manual of style/Biography infobox

For {{Infobox rugby league biography}}, the following guidelines should be applied. Subject to change at the WikiProject talk page.

General edit

1) The Current Club parameter

a) It should not be used for retired or non-playing players, not for coaches or any other exception.
b) It should not be used for players in the current National Rugby League competition.
c) Therefore, it should only be used for players in the English Super League competition.

2) The Position parameter

a) It should be linked to the appropriate section of the article (try using {{rlp}})

3) The Retired parameter

a) It should contain "no" or nothing if the player is still currently playing
b) It should contain "yes" if the player has ceased his playing career

4) The Updated parameter

a) It should be accurate up to when the information in the infobox is correct.
b) Should ideally be in the form DD MONTH YEAR, but any form that goes with the beginning of 'As of ...' can be used

5) The Source parameter

a) Should be used for the source you used to find the information used in the infobox
b) You are allowed to use more than one source.

Players edit

1) The player should be notable enough in their country of playing

a) They should have their own article on Wikipedia under WP:NOTABILITY

2) In reference to the yearXstart and yearXend parameters

a) The format of the year should be full (XXXX). For example 2006 not 06.
b) For unknown dates, both "yearXstart" an "yearXend" should be left blank.
c) For one year players for that club, simply enter the year in "yearXstart" and leave "yearXend" blank.
d) For current players, have their first year at the club in the "yearXstart" and the exact word "present" in the "yearXend"

3) In reference to the clubX (where X can be a letter or a number) parameter

a) The club/team allowed/disallowed shall be as follows:
i) The club/team should be notable within its entire city.
ii) The club/team must be in the top competition in the city/area/state/country at the time of playing.
₳) Where the top competition is defined by the biggest by notability in order of country/state/area/city.
iii) The club/team should have its own article on Wikipedia.
b) The use of a colour icon should be used in front of the name of the club, in size 16. See also {{leagueicon}}. (temporary rule)
c) The name of the club should be linked to the article corresponding to article.
d) The entire name of the club name should not exceed 1 line. Thus it should be shortened regardless.
e) The club name of use is as follows
i) The use of team mascot names is encouraged if it does not rule against rule (3d)
ii) The club name should be what the club was officially called when his first year at the club
iii) However if the name is of the same club but is not easily recognizable to current Wikipedians then a more modern name could be usd (eg. Balmain Tigers instead of Sydney Tigers)

4) In reference to the statistics parameters (appearencesX, triesX, goalsX, fieldgoalsX and pointsX)

a) The statistics should be for the clubs appearences in the top competition. (For eg. Brisbane Broncos in the NRL, not trials)
b) When a parameter is unknown, the parameter should be left blank. Otherwise there should be information in all parameters.
c) For zero outputs (eg. when a player has had no field goals) then "0" should be put in not "-" or blank.

5) For representative fixtures.

a) In reference to what teams should be allowed then rules (3ai)(3aii) apply
b) For team names, the use of team mascot name must not be used.

Coaches edit

1) All coaches should be head coaches only, not assistant or anything else.
2) For colours, club names, colours, teams allowed, statistics should follow the rules as outlined in the Players section.
3) The Win Percentage is calculated automatically from the wins out of games, as with draws and losses.

Rugby Union edit

1) This template should not be used for sole rugby union players (use {{Infobox Rugby biography}}). Other rules:

a) This template should be used for dual rugby players who played rugby league first.

2) The rugby union section should be in similar style to the rugby league section in the what clubs are allowed, statistics etc.
3) The representative section should be for the national teams only.
