Wikipedia:WikiProject Religion/Assessment/Top-importance articles

Personally, it is my belief that the project would be best served if we were to focus our most concentrated attention on three areas:

  • (1) The pages for the specific kinds of religions (such as Atheism, Monotheism, Dualism, Polytheism, etc.), as they often contain the most basic and important information on various creeds.
  • (2) The main pages for the various belief systems, including Ayyavazhi, Baha'i Faith, Falun Gong, and so on. These articles should each be the most developed articles in the group of articles dealing with the specific faiths.
  • (3) Possibly the least significant of the three here, depending upon the individual creed. The founders or leaders of the various creeds are also extremely important to their various creeds, particularly in those instances in which the founder is seen as a theologically significant individual in his own right, either as a designated prophet of God or as God him/her/itself.
  • I personally see each of the three as being significant, with the (fill-in-the-blank)-theism pages probably being the ones of greatest importance, with probably either the article on the belief system or the article about the founder of each extant creed also being in the top importance field, dependent on the individual creed's beliefs.

On the basis of the above, I will start some of the proposals for candidates for top-importance ranking, listing only a few which I believe qualify. Any and all other members of the project should feel free to oppose or support every one of theses nominees, and propose any others of their own, and those which we have a rough consensus on will be accorded top-importance status. I do anticipate the list getting rather long, so I hope no one feels concern in that regard. The goal is to be inclusive of all the articles of greatest importance.

  • Support - Probably the single most important article for the project, as it is the name the project itself bears. Badbilltucker 15:43, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
