Troop engagements of the American Civil War, 1862 edit
I am seeking to pass this article for AL class. It is a listing of American Civil War engagements for the year 1862. Wild Wolf (talk) 17:13, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Comments: I have the following suggestions for improvement:
- the lead seems to be formatted slightly differently to the 1861 list. For instance, note the lack of bold text, and the space. You might want to make it consistent across the whole series;
- across the whole series generally you have the table of contents sitting below the lead, but in the 1861 article you have it right aligned;
- across the whole series you generally put the Notes into three columns, except in 1865 where you have them in four, and 1862 where you have them in one;
- "C.S.S. Grumpus" --> do you mean CSS Grampus?
- inconsistent presentation of numbers, for instance compare "Confederate one, Union eight" to "Confederate 3 wounded, 3 captured, Union 3 killed, 3 wounded";
- inconsistent caps, e.g. "Confederate President Jefferson Davis" and "Union president Abraham Lincoln";
- "Grant then lead a counterattack the following morning" --> "Grant then led a counterattack the following morning";
- "night of May 29-30": this should either be a slash e.g. "night of May 29/30" or an endash e.g. "night of May 29–30";
- "The two armies meet in" --> "The two armies met in";
- "raised a brigade of cavalry and lead it into the" --> "raised a brigade of cavalry and led it into the";
- some entries in the list seem to end in full stops, but others don't. For instance, compare 6th to 8th March with 8th to 9th March;
- in the References, is there a year, a publisher and OCLC number for the Foote work?
- in the References, is there an ISSN and page numbers for the Cheeks, Long, Naisawald and Wegner works?
- in the References, the isbn for Shea 2009 appears not to be linking;
- in the References, "Alexanderia, Virginia" --> "Alexandria, Virginia"?
- in the References, is there a place of publication for the Kennedy work?
- in the References, this inconsistent "Mechanisburg, Pa." when compared with "Chapel Hill, North Carolina". (For consistency, it is probably best to expand "Pa."). AustralianRupert (talk) 03:35, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
