The protests in Egypt in the past week have shown that the Egyptian people have a Voice and have a Will that should be heard. It is a historical event that should be well documented in every possible way. The first place people from around the globe visit to read about the Egyptian protests is Wikipedia the free and openly editable encyclopedia that provides us a way to show the world what happened in these days without any censorships or advertisements. We ask you therefore to contribute to Wikipedia any captured videos, images or video stories relating to the state of Egypt during the week of the protests so that we can keep a public record of what happened in Egypt in these days and always have a place to remember what it took and what was needed to achieve our dreams of a better Egypt.

Uploading media

To upload media to Wikipedia you need to do the following:

  1. Create an account on Wikimedia Commons the media repository for all languages of Wikipedia, to provide central access to all your files from one place. To do that go on this page and follow the steps on that page.
  2. Go to the upload page fill in everything, including a short description of what is in the media file, the author of the file which should be yourself and the date and if possible the time also of the capturing of the media. Also add as a category "2011 Egyptian protests" (without the quotes) so that it can easily be found. In other information {{2011 Egyptian protests taskforce}} so that we can check that your files have been uploaded correctly.
  3. Choose the licensing of the file preferably Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike which ensures that whenever your file is used your name has to be in its vicinity and that even if the file is altered you have to be attributed as the original author.
  4. Click upload.
