WikiProject Organized crime has gone through a variety of times. Here is the brief history of it.

The beginning

This WikiProject was originally proposed by User:Func (see link). It was officially created by MadMax in November 2005 (see link). The project became inactive somewhere around early to mid 2007, and was nominated for deletion on January 31, 2012.
