}} The Africa Centre is a historic space in the centre of London that was acquired by Cardinal Hinsley Memorial Trust of the Catholic Church in the early 1960s for the people of Africa, friends of Africa and the African Diaspora. Since its foundation in 1964, as a home-away-from-home and cultural hub, the site has played a pivotal role in maintaining and projecting the culture of all Africans, as well as a central meeting point for many anti-colonial and apartheid intellectuals, artists and activists from pre-independent African states.

History

In the 1970s the Africa Centre became a vital instrument for the many voices of liberation during the many independence struggles on the African continent.

In 2011, the trustees of the Africa Centre, consulted with members of the African Diaspora, users of the Africa Centre, or any other stakeholders who have an interest in its future.
