This page contains citations and example cases in order to illuminate some bright line applications of wheel war policy.

Examples

edit

The examples of wheel-warring circa 2006 are available in this previous revision. They are available for historical review only and should not be consulted for advice regarding current practice.

Example using different tools

edit
  • Admin A deletes a page he doesn't agree with to prevent editing (rather than due to vandalism). Admin B undeletes. Admin A, unable to redelete, protects it instead.

The result is that the editing community is still unable to edit, regardless of the tool used.

  • Admin A deletes a page due to a vandal posting attacks on it. Admin B undeletes. Admin A protects it for 24 hours instead to prevent the vandal posting while it is under discussion, simultaneously opening an ANI thread and notifying B, to explain the problem and disclose the dispute, and asking others not to unprotect while discussed.

More likely to be seen as at least possibly having cause and not recklessly warring.
