 The Wiki Arte y Cultura Latinoamerica, abbreviated as WIKIarte, initiative is a global campaign to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Latin American arts and culture and to counter geocultural systemic bias on Wikipedia. WIKIarte is a global Galleries, Libraries Archives & Museums (GLAM) initiative that hopes to unite international cultural producers to improve discoverability of digitized assets, promote the use of structured metadata via Wikidata task lists and establish notability of unheralded cultural producers and art movements in a language-neutral approach to multiple language Wikipedias. Events often take the form of WIKIarte editathons: Wiki Arte y Cultura Latinoamerica Wikipedia editathons and workshops. The initiative was started in October 2015. |
