The most viewed articles for October 2004 (October 1-19), derived from historical data scattered in various places on the English Wikipedia, wikimedia.org, and elsewhere.

From March to September 2004, a list of the most popular articles each month was maintained at Wikipedia:Popular_pages. A list for October 2004 was never posted, likely because Wikipedia used Webalizer to track page views at this time, and the service was shut down around October 19 because traffic was overloading the servers. Archive.org has preserved a copy of the October 1-29, 2004 statistics: [1]. This includes the 50 most popular URLs. From this report, after removing non-article pages, the following list was created in December 2016:
