Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2010 September 20

- It is difficult to review the article in the current format. Please see WP:MOS and WP:MOSBIO. Notability of the subject needs to be established through significant sources presented in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. The current references indicated in the prose are specifically primary sources, which do not qualify in establishing notability. Look for secondary and third-party sources. This ia an article about a brand of Soy Milk sold in India. The article has been rewritten to fit to Wikipedia guidelines and standards. I would like feedback on the quality of the article and what should be my next steps. Sudeep88 (talk) 03:47, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

- This is a duplicate request with feedback given on the page of September 19.--Tikiwont (talk) 07:49, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
This article is about a Syrian cartoon for adults. I believe I have enough independent resources to back up the information provided on the article I created, however, since this is my first page I would like to request for feedback on the structure, formatting and overall quality of the page to make sure that it would not be deleted. All the links I provided are from reliable Arabic media sources but will require someone who can read Arabic to verify their authenticity.
Thanks for helping. Kaminobatto (talk) 05:59, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- The issues with the article focus on the lack of notability established through significant coverage presented through reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Since this is the English Wikipedia, references require translation into English. Additionally, Facebook is not considered a reliable source WP:RS or external link per WP:ELNO and should be deleted. This doesn't leave us with any reliable sources from which we can establish notability. Review WP:RS and try to find appropriate sources. Otherwise, this article, in its current state, is a candidate for deletion. Cindamuse (talk) 19:54, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi
Just looking for a general review of my article, it's the first time i've written a wikipedia page. It's basically a brief summary of a relatively new outdoor retailer. I'm doing some research into the outdoor sports market and thought it would be useful to look into the different companies out there and write some articles. I plan to write a page on most of the main companies that are operating in this market.
Regards

- The primary concerns center on the lack of notability established through significant coverage presented by reliable sources that are independent of the subject. When we evaluate articles of organizations, we use the guidelines found at WP:ORG. The article currently presents references from local media, or media of limited interest and circulation. This local focus is not an indication of notability. Please feel free to review the criteria for inclusion of articles on organizations and revise the article accordingly. We need at least one regional (outside of Manchester), national, or international source that is reliable and independent of the subject. If sources cannot be located, this would present the article as a candidate for deletion. Cindamuse (talk) 22:24, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
First contribution, please review and edit as you see fit and then move it if you deem it appropriate, as my account is too new. Thanks a lot and happy to contribute. Bhsahhar (talk) 16:57, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia! At this point, notability has not been established through significant coverage presented by reliable sources that are independent of the subject. All references and external links are those of the subject of the article. We must have significant coverage presented in secondary and third-party sources for articles to be appropriate for inclusion on Wikipedia. Please provide feedback on this new article on pipe supports. I greatly appreciate it! SylvIba (talk) 20:15, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well-written article, presented with reliable sources to establish notability. I made some minor formatting changes to establish a lead paragraph. Best wishes, Cindamuse (talk) 19:17, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Is this okay to post? The red item (Boston Sustainability System) will link to a 2nd article I am developing. How do I create a second article in my userspace? Bostonfun1 (talk) 21:41, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- There are a couple of issues at play here. Your username should be changed. Since you are creating articles on Steve Boston and Boston Sustainability System, your username is inappropriate as a single-purpose account created to promote or advertise the subject of an article. Accordingly, your account could be blocked. I recommend that you change your username as soon as possible. The article, while well-written, lacks indication of notability. Notability needs to be established through significant coverage presented by reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Without this significant coverage, supported with appropriate references, the article will likely become a candidate for deletion. I wish I had better news for you. editThis is my first Wikipedia. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone has on it. Cstrother (talk) 21:54, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia! This is a great start. Unfortunately, at this point, the primary concern is the lack of notability. This can be addressed by adding several citations culled from significant coverage presented by reliable sources that are independent of the subject. You can find the applicable criteria for inclusion of organizations at WP:ORG. The 1st reference is primary. The 2nd reference should be removed, since it requires readers to download the reference in order to read it. The 3rd reference does not mention the organization. The 4th reference mentions the organization peripherally. Unfortunately, the article would quickly become a candidate for deletion in its current state, if it was moved to the mainspace. Cindamuse (talk) 17:28, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I moved my userspace draft to the mainspace today. Please, review it. All your suggestions are very welcome. Thanks for your help. Amargolina (talk) 22:01, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Requested new page review/topic verification from Wikiproject Chemistry. Cindamuse (talk) 17:11, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Brand-new article, will try to link it to other independent bookstore sites once I dig up appropriate citations.
Thank you! Teichoscopia (talk) 22:29, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- At this point, notability has not been established through significant coverage provided by reliable sources that are independent of the subject. While there are several references, they do not present significant coverage beyond peripheral statements that the bookstore was used as a venue for book signings and meet and greets. While there are a couple of good articles provided, the coverage is derived from local media and media of limited interest and circulation. This is not an indication of notability. Can you find at least one media source with a wide audience (beyond San Francisco) to support notability? This would certainly help. Cindamuse (talk) 16:57, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
This is my very first article contribution. Please check it out, and tell me what you think. What do I do next?
Maribb (talk) 22:46, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- As per WP:CITE, YouTube cannot be used as a reference, so please remove those references. Also, be careful with the article's tone and language style - Wikipedia articles aren't supposed to sound like advertisements. Finally, consider adding an infobox, just to summarise the key points about this person. If you have any questions, please send me a message. Thanks. Chevymontecarlo 14:25, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Hope Beneath Our Feet Eharrold/HopeBeneathOurFeet
editI'm terribly new to this process and very interested in creating an article for this new anthology - Hope Beneath Our Feet- that was just published. Because there are so many contributing authors to the book, I only included a handful. Should I add them all? What other outside references should appear for a newly published book? Thanks for your help.
Eharrold (talk) 02:27, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia! It is required that the book is notable as established through significant coverage in reliable sources that are separate of the subject. At this point, there are no references in this article that present the subject or the notability therein. The article also reads like a promotional piece for the book. There are specific criteria for the inclusion of books on Wikipedia. You can find this information at WP:NBOOKS. Please take a look at the criteria to find an applicable measure of notability of which the book meets. If the book does not meet one of the criteria, it would be inappropriate to add it to Wikipedia and accordingly, would be a candidate for deletion. I wish I had better news for you.
