How much does a photographer in Canada cost edit

Me and my fiancé are getting married in December and we live in Lindsay Ontario Canada. I’ve never dealt with a photographer before so I just want to know how much typically a photographer costs per hour. I keep trying to find the answer online but all I see is for actual all day weddings. We are eloping and we are just getting married in a park so we would only need a photographer for no more than an hour probably so can someone please tell me what we should expect to be spending for a whole package for an hour and what it includes. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Van12121 (talkcontribs) 01:28, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hiring a photographer has little to do with paying an hourly rate. Most of the charge has to do with availability, travel, and print packages. Call up a couple of photographers in your area and ask them for some estimates/quotes. Tell them the details of what you want (both in terms of shots/times and prints) and let them give you a quote. Get a bunch of quotes and then pick one based on your expectations, cost, rapport with the person, and so on. More hints here and here. Matt Deres (talk) 01:48, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Matt gives sound advice. Remember that even if your photographer is only present for a one-hour ceremony, they probably aren't going to be able to book any other clients that day—consequently, the minimum amount they charge is whatever it's worth to them to not just take a day off. And as far as time goes they're committing to travel, setup, takedown, plus advance scouting (especially) if it's a venue/location they haven't worked in before. After the event there's time spent selecting and processing images, and all the way through the process there are the hours spent interacting with the clients. Actually shooting the ceremony is the most visible and probably the most nerve-wracking part of the job, but it's a small share of the total hours.
