Why does Copacabana (nightclub) sort under "<", even after I added {{DEFAULTSORT:Copacabana}} in the External links section?--Dthomsen8 (talk) 21:11, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
- As I understand it, the DEFAULTSORT magic word does not immediately cause MediaWiki to update the category table, so its effect may not be immediately evident in the category page. Once the job queue has resolved the change, the category page should be up to date. Looking at various cats of which that article is a member, some hours after you first reported the issue on the article's talk page, the page is sorted correctly, at least as far as I can see. -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 21:59, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
- I can't see why it should ever have sorted under <. The adopted solution has addressed the wrong problem, and has only apparently solved it. I've removed the DEFAULTSORT as unnecessary, and the category sorting remains correct. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 23:32, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
