Photos of Repatriated American POW's from North Korea in August/September 1953
editI am trying to find a photo of me being greeted by some 4 star general upon my release by the North Koreans in September 1953. Operation Big Switch, Could be General Taylor or Ridgeway, memories fade over time. Place was Panmungun, Korea. Not good with a PC, need help. Old dog learning new tricks. - That would have been General Mark W. Clark ( D. Clayton James' book Refighting the Last War ). Mark W. Clark was a three stars General during WWII, and our article shows he was four star later. D. C. James belongs to the Virginia Military Institute. --Askedonty (talk) 08:32, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

- Did you see a general ? There are senior officers at the arrival of the ambulances, but I was able to recognize only John Foster Dulles. Clark is still in place the 27th of July, according to D.C. James. His noted war correspondent would be wrong. In truth, Arlington has Taylor arriving in June 1953 in Korea (second notice), and the NY Times: "General Taylor, who succeeded Gen. James A. Van Fleet as commander of the Eighth Army and United Nations forces in Seoul early in 1953" ([1]). Taylor succeeded Ridgway indeed, but as Army Chief of Staff, in June 1955 (same source). - The caption to the newsreel has "General Taylor and other personalities watching the arrivals." I must admit that I can't identify which of the officers is Taylor, but that's what the source says, and, as you point out, he was commander of the Eighth Army in Korea when the operation took place (August-December 1953). If the OP can remember where the original picture appeared (in a local newspaper, a national newspaper, an Army publication?) we may be able to track it down. editI would like to donate, but am afraid to give credit card information to individuals I don't know or are not sure have been bonded and secured. The staffer who receives this information could be let go, fired for whatever reason, and may have compiled a list of credit card numbers for a rainy day, and rain on me and my life when they leave your employ.
