Part-Time (Online or Self-Study Preferred!) Business Eduction Ideas

I am on the hunt for a business, finance, project management (etc. etc.) program that I can do in my spare time over the next several months. I am looking to bolster the old resume and I live in Canada.

I have a BA in Economics and I just did level 1 of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) program. I have until December (at least) before I have to start preparing for Level II. I'm interested in any program, certificate, accreditation or voodoo doctorate that would both look good on a resume and - perhaps most importantly - keep me busy. I've gotten used to studying for 10-15 hours per week and I'd like to keep that up. I have a good IT background, and would also be interested in anything in the "Business Analysis" vein. Most especially, I'm interested in getting some new ideas on programs that are either interesting or have good reputations for employers in finance, investing, general business or...174.6.24.201 (talk) 06:08, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

I would start by looking at universities and colleges near where you live. The OU is a highly reputable institution, giving good quality teaching, but it is not well known outside the UK. Domestic appliance from Direct Discount

The title refers to an advert I hear all the time on the radio. I'm confused about one specific line. It goes something like... "...Top-brand and integrated appliances, and splashbacks, and cuckolds!" I'm guessing I'm mishearing those two words, since there is apparently no such thing as a splashback, and I doubt our definition of cuckold cover this advert...so what does he really say? Any idea? What is this movie?

I heard a review of a movie that had come out about 2-3 years ago. I never caught the name of the movie (or don't remember) but the reviewers (Lyons and Bailes) were raving how funny and clever it was. The only detail I have to go is that I distinctly remember the reviewers describing the movies as a series of vignettes, maybe 8 or 10, and I think each one may be by a different filmmaker. I believe they are all comedy, though I'm not sure. I know, that is not a lot to go on, but the time period is right and there can't be many movies of this type. Help.... What are Multi Mammites?

I went to an animal auction the other day to buy birds for my aviary and accidently bid on two rodants and I won. On the box it said they are multi mammites. I have searched all over the internet to find out more about them but there is nothing. It is like they don't exist. It sounds like a misspelling of multimammate - one of various species of mice, most of which are in the Mastomys genus. Warofdreams talk 19:23, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Hummer and China

Since GM has sold Hummer to a Chinese company, does this mean that the company can choose to stop providing the US Military with Humvees? Conversely, does this mean that the Chinese military can begin incorporating Humvees into their own arsenal? Acceptable (talk) 20:37, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Assuming the US military still has a Hummer supply contract then that contract would be sold with the rest of Hummer and must be honoured. At the very least I'd imagine they have a parts one. As to the Chinese, so far as I know (but I'm less sure here) the Hummer is not military hardware per se and so could always be sold to other militaries, unless rule dout specially by the US contract. The HMMWV is entirely distinct from the consumer Hummer brand, and the latter's sale does not affect the former in any fashion. However, the Chinese companies have already been building the HMMWV (with GM's assent and assistance) for the PLA for some years now. — Lomn 21:17, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

The civilian "Hummer H1" started out as a variation of the same basic vehicle as the military HMMWV - but those vehicles are very wide - almost impossible to park, brutally uncomfortable, uncrashworthy, hideously expensive to fuel and maintain, etc. So for the last 10 or so years, Hummers H2's and H3's have been nothing much more than an alternative body shell bolted onto a standard GM SUV chassis & engine (I kinda recall it was a Chevvy Tahoe). There is nothing really special about them compared to other SUV's. The Chinese are welcome to them! The original HMMWV is still being made for the military by AM General - which is a privately owned US company that has no relations with GM. SteveBaker (talk) 01:44, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Also note that the sale has not occurred yet. I read that the Chinese regulators might object because it's a high profile brand being bought by a somewhat unknown company, so it would be embarrassing to China if they failed, and because Hummers have a poor environmental image, which China does not want to inherit. --Sean 18:13, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Buying a Gun in New York

What are the requirements for purchasing a gun in the state of New York? Does one have to be a US citizen? Acceptable (talk) 21:58, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

This "New York State Rifle & Pistol Association" page is quite informative. "An alien may possess a rifle or shotgun for use while hunting provided he has a valid New York hunting license. If such (handgun) license is issued to an alien, or to a person not a citizen of and usually a resident in the state, the licensing officer shall state in the license the particular reason for the issuance and the names of the persons certifying to the good character of the applicant."
