Hi. In season 3 of Dexter, the character Miguel Prado uses the term gilipollas. Is this a character error for a Cuban Spanish speaker to use this word? Or is the ambit of this word larger than Spain? Duomillia (talk) 01:19, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Courtesy link Dexter (TV series), to avoid confusion with other Dexters.
I'm no expert on Spanish variations worldwide, but is it unlikely that a relatively well-educated Cuban-American (I gather the character is an Assistant District Attorney) would have some contact with Iberian-Spanish culture (reading, watching Spanish TV programmes, visiting Spain, etc.) and thus pick up some Iberian-Spanish slang? Presumably the show's script writers are American, but knew the term. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.179.94 (talk) 22:09, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The worst character/language error in the series must be that Deb does not know the word puta. —Tamfang (talk) 02:25, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
