editP2P Usenet
editIs there a kind of Usenet that works peer to peer?--2A02:908:422:9760:7100:3AFC:91AC:329B (talk) 06:23, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- The Freenet platform has everything needed to set up a P2P Usenet clone, and I'd expect that some folks have already done that, perhaps not advertizing their work publicly for reasons known to them. Our Darknet article states that social networks (usually used for file hosting with a peer-to-peer connection) form "a typical darknet type". Two references are given that I have not looked up. Furthermore, the section Dark web § Social media mentions emerging social media platforms similar to those on the World Wide Web, said to be known as the Dark Web Social Network (DWSN). --Lambiam 19:46, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
Speed difference between 8+8GB and 4+16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM
editI'm choosing between two laptops. One has a soldered 8+8GB memory. The other has 4GB soldered memory and a SODIMM slot, which I plan to populate with a single 16GB SODIMM memory (I checked that this configuration is valid).
Would there be any speed difference between 8+8GB and 4+16GB?
Thanks for reading.Mũeller (talk) 19:46, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- I assume the laptops have the same processor. It will then depend on the speed ratings of the memory modules. Different chips have different transfer rates. --Lambiam 07:20, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- If two modules populate two different memory channels, symmetrical 8+8 Gb configuration will provide better overall performance than asymmetrical 4+16 Gb configuration. Ruslik_Zero 19:49, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you both very much!Mũeller (talk) 00:40, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
