Wikipedia Edit-a-thon Nieuwe Instituut: Unforgetting women architects

On Thursday 8 june the [Nieuwe Instituut] organises a edit-a-thon about female architects, in collaboration with the gender gap workgroup and Wikimedia Netherlands. The edit-a-thon is accesible to first time as well as advanced Wikipedia editors. If your interested, it is also possible to join the monthly Thursday evening activity at the New Institute which is held subsequently to the afternoon.

Background

Women are still underrepresented in architecture. This applies to present day architecture as well as its history. Only 15 of the 650 athor archives that are being held by the [Rijksarchief voor Architectuur en Stedenbouw] are registered in a womans name. On Wikipedia the number of items concerning female architecture falls short. By organizing this edit-a-thon we hope to change this.

Location

The edit-a-thon is held at the library of the New Institute, Museumpark 25, 3015 CB in Rotterdam.

Programme

• 15.00: walk in with coffee and tea
• 15.15: introduction editing Wikipedia for first time editors
• 16.00: edit (with coffee, thee and snacks)
• 18.30: Thursday Bite (costs € 7,50)
• 19.30: Thursday Night Live lecture: Jailing bankers with open source
