Wikipedia is the largest online encyclopedia in the world. With millions of articles, thousands of editors, and decades of research, it has become a trusted resource for getting first-look information in dozens of different disciplines. Please join us on Monday July 31st from 6:00pm to 8:00pm to learn to edit Wikipedia pages. All experience levels are welcome. It is highly recommended that participants create a Wikipedia account ahead of time. As part of the summer session, we will be focusing on a particular local history page with the goal of creating an article worthy of the front-page "Did You Know?" section. Please attend for more details.
Light refreshment will be provided.
The San Diego Wikimedians User Group, an affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation, will be giving a short tutorial on getting started with Wikipedia. Afterwards, we will begin editing! Computers will be available. Attendees may bring their own WiFi-enabled devices if they so desire, though in-room outlet space may be limited.

The San Diego Public Library is seeking experienced users/editors of Wikipedia to assist members of the public in editing a Wikipedia article. We are looking to work on an article on a subject within the City of San Diego, to the point where it will get on Did You Know on the main page of Wikipedia.
