What is the Represent Edit-a-Thon? edit

Inspired by the Philadelphia Museum of Art's new exhibition and catalogue, Represent: 200 Years of African American Art, help us to better represent African American artists online. Learn how to create and edit information about these artists on Wikipedia, the world’s largest source of free knowledge. New and experienced editors welcome. Bringing personal laptops and power cords is encouraged. Event will be lead by the exhibition's Organizing Curator, John Vick, and the Project Assistant in the Department of Contemporary Art, Charlotte Lowrey. An introduction to Wikipedia will be taught from 5:30-6:30pm by the Chemical Heritage Foundation's Wikipedian in residence Mary Mark Ockerbloom.

Aims edit

  • Creating or enhancing existing biographies of notable African American artists from the Represent exhibition and catalogue based on published source materials
  • Adding authoritative references, citations, and images to improve the quality of existing articles
