Edit-a-thon at the Silver City Public Library edit

Join us at the public library for our first-ever Wikipedia editing event. We'll learn about the five pillars of Wikipedia, Wikipedia policies, and editing best practices. We will begin to edit and update pages. Stop by this free event any time after 3:30pm, you won’t be interrupting!

Your Wikipedia Account: If possible, create your free Wikipedia account beforehand by clicking on "Create account" in the upper right corner of en.wikipedia.org. Contact coordinator Lillian Galloway (User:LillianLibrarian) on her talk page User_talk:LillianLibrarian or at 575-538-3672 if you need assistance.

Equipment: You may bring your laptop or mobile device and use the library's WiFi. The library will have approximately 15 devices available to use. The library's collection of print and electronic resources will be available to look up facts and cite sources. Reliable sources can also be found at El Portal, a tool provided by the New Mexico State Library.

Possible topics for editing edit

Wikipedia could particularly benefit from adding facts about our region which are found in the library's Southwest Collection materials. Much of this information may not be accessible to the world online.
