Wikimedians in Bangalore with an interest in the natural world are getting together for an editathon to improve articles on the plants, animals, geology and other aspects of nature around them. The two day workshop will be aided by User:Chinmayisk and User:Shyamal.

Part of the facilitation will include helping identify and obtain reliable sources, learning to structure an article, paraphrase, cite and otherwise polish up articles that the participants choose to improve (we have a long menu of articles to choose from).

Day 1 (1-August-2015) :
Morning :

  • Session on history, philosophy and social dynamics of Wikipedia
  • Session on basics of researching and editing

Afternoon :

  • Hands-on editing on a few topics we choose

Day 2 (2-August-2015) :

  • Short session on copyrights, licensing and Wikimedia commons
  • Uploading media based on certain topics
  • Editing based on the media uploaded

Working Lunch will be provided for confirmed participants on both the days.

Intended Audience edit

Anyone with an interest in the natural world (the Earth, climate, plants, animals) around who routinely seeks information and reads up on the subject.
